“As a fourth generation Marion County resident, I am ready to serve our residents in the West Virginia House of Delegates. Now more than ever, our local voices must be heard. I can’t wait to work hard for Marion County, taking your ideas and all I’ve learned as Mayor and union representative to Charleston.”

- JohnBoy Palmer

JohnBoy cares deeply about Marion County and its future as a thriving area for all families here. He is running for House of Delegates to make sure we have another voice in the Legislature that is fighting to expand resources for our area and incentivize new businesses.

JohnBoy believes it’s every West Virginia citizen's right to have access to jobs, health care, and education so your family doesn't have to go out of West Virginia to find what they need to not just survive, but thrive. Every citizen of West Virginia deserves access to good-paying secure jobs, affordable quality health care, and schools with resources so that teachers can teach our kids successfully. JohnBoy also believes quality health care isn't a choice, it's a right.

JohnBoy currently serves at Mayor of Monongah, WV and works for Dominion Energy. He grew up in a union family with the UMWA. He’s currently an active union member and shop steward for United Gas Workers Union (UGWU), Local 69.

As Mayor, JohnBoy has fought to improve the community in meaningful ways, including newly paved roads, improved water & sewer systems, and making the playground safer. During COVID shutdowns, JohnBoy’s office collaborated with local organizations to make sure the school kids had access to healthy, free lunches. JohnBoy also believes in the power of building community - from bringing back holiday events in town to joining in with the volunteers who work together for a better community.

JohnBoy knows what it's like for people to work hard for what they have. He believes that with God’s guidance, he can advocate for all residents of Marion County with honesty, integrity, and common sense. JohnBoy enjoys spending his free time with family and his two dogs, Lucy and Xena.
